Most AI conversations start with a model. The more useful starting point is a task that already happens every day: a reply, a classification, a document, a follow-up.
If the task has a clear input, a repeated action, and a way to check the result, it is a candidate. If nobody can describe what a good result looks like, the project is not ready.
Start from the process
Write the current path in plain steps. Note where a person copies information, searches for a policy, or waits for another system.
Those steps are where an assistant, a classifier, or a document workflow can sit. The rest of the process can stay as it is.
Keep a person available
Operational AI should know when to stop. Low confidence, missing data, and sensitive cases belong with a person.
That boundary is part of the design, not a failure of the model.
